Close to nature and far from temptations, Northwest Academy’s location puts troubled teens into an ideal environment for focusing thought and achieving superb physical condition. It is nothing short of beautiful.
Students have access to all the activities that four seasons, mountain peaks, alpine lakes, crystal clear streams, ski runs and sweeping vistas can offer.
From Campus, it’s ten miles north to Bonners Ferry, a town of 3000 which sits on the beautiful Kootenay River. Only thirty-six miles from the Canadian border, Bonners Ferry is also known as the International Gateway to Idaho.
Twenty-three miles south is Sandpoint; recognized by USA Today and Rand McNally as the country’s most beautiful small town. Located on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille, the fifth largest lake in the western United States, and surrounded by the magnificent Selkirk and Cabinet Mountain ranges the town also is home to Schweitzer Mountain, a world-class resort with 3000 acres of ski and snowboard terrain. Sandpoint enjoys a rich cultural life, including an internationally acclaimed music festival every August.
Spokane, Washington lies a hundred miles to the southwest. Its International airport serves all of north Idaho, and eastern Washington. Downtown you’ll find wonderfully preserved turn of the 20th century architecture, great restaurants, a variety of shopping and world-class entertainment venues; all adjacent to the Spokane River, with its beautiful falls, running through Riverfront Park.
